How To Tame Your Dragon

Author: mad-maudlin

Rating: NC-17

Genre: AU/Fantasy

Word count: 12,871

Summary: Sorcerer!Sherlock sets out to trap himself a pet dragon. Said dragon turns out to be far more interesting than he initially anticipated.

Why read it: Cause John Watson is a motherfucking dragon!!! As far as I’m concerned, that’s head canon. Come on, it makes sense. We always knew he was part reptile anyway.

I just love the way this author portrays John as completely not human, but still the John we know and love. Except carnivorous.

Notes: This fic has a lot of warnings attached to it, so be sure to read them all. Personally though, I didn’t find it as dark as the the warnings indicate it would be. It was actually humorous at times. Let me stress however, that that’s my PERSONAL opinion.

Friday: Fanart and a Fic
Artist: Zenyr
Fic/Author: A Study in Blue by writingispurdy
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Case!fic/AU
Word count: 22,184
Summary: On 1st January, 1920, John Watson meets Sherlock Holmes.
There is a crater in the middle of Europe, and John Watson had been pulled out of it alive.
Why read it: JAZZ AGE AU!!!

I can not tell you how much I love the idea of Sherlock in the 20’s. The author does an amazing job keeping the fic remarkably similar to the show, while still managing to avoid any anachronisms that might be tempted to sneak in. Oh, and her depiction of Sherlock playing the violin?

I could read that for-fucking-ever.

Monday: Damn Good Fics

A Study in Winning Part 1 and Part 2

Author: Jupiter Ash

Rating: NC-17

Genre: AU/Romance

Word count: Over 100,000 (Clear your schedules, ladies and gents)

Summary: Porn, plot and tennis. Also swearing and some French. AU where Sherlock and John are professional tennis players. (no really)

Why read it: This is a life-consuming, time-killing monster of a fic, but it is completely and utterly worth it. There is humor, angst, porn, and action — just like you would expect from the show (you know, minus the porn, but a girl can dream).

Trust me. People will try to pull you away from your computer saying crazy things like, “Why don’t you socialize with us?” or “You haven’t left the room in nine days,” or “Your eyes are bleeding.”

But as they struggle to rip that laptop from your desperate, pale hands, imploring you to stop, you shall shout hysterically in return:

Friday: Fanart and a Fic
Artist: Zenyr
Fic/Author: The Road Less Traveled by verityburns
Rating: NC-17
Genre: Romance/Angst
Word count: 76,000
Summary: Sherlock realises that John’s dating habits involve an unacceptable level of risk… what if he meets an unusually tolerant woman and ends up getting married?
Why read it: The Road Less Traveled is pretty quickly becoming a staple for any rec list. Sherlock, logical bastard that he is, quickly decides that seducing John Watson is the best way to go, and sets out to become the perfect boyfriend. Of course, being Sherlock and rather unaccustomed to these sorts of things, he derps it up six ways from Sunday.

Trust me on this one, readers, this fic is beautiful and oh so very angsty. I actually teared up.
Notes: Please, please, please keep the artist’s info on here, even if you get rid of the fic. The artist hasn’t uploaded it to their own tumblr yet so we couldn’t reblog from the source, but everyone should get credit for their work. Thank you.

Friday: Fanart and a Fic
Art/Artist: Leave my BF Alone by sadynax
Fic/Author: Adventures in Babysitting by travels_in_time
Rating: G
Genre: Gen/Fluff
Word count: 1,460
Summary: Eleven-year-old Greg unexpectedly winds up watching a room full of unruly children.
Why read it: There is no conceivable way for me to convey to you the amount of adorableness this fic contains. It’s just fluff and rainbows and twizzlers (unless you don’t like twizzlers. In which case, wtf?) and fat baby penguins and that really nice moment when you find money in the pocket of a coat you haven’t worn since last winter. That’s it. I can’t even.
