Monday: Damn Good Fics

Author: brbsoulnomming

Rating: R

Genre: Case!fic/Romance

Word count: 77,400

Summary: Written for the prompt:

There’s a case at a secondary school/University, some series of threats or string of bizarre murders that has the entire campus shaken. In the course of the investigation, Sherlock and John meet two students. One is well liked if not popular, athletic, intelligent without showing off, involved only because they were close to a victim or witnessed something important. The other is a loner with no regard for social norms, an insufferable genius, always in the chem lab, and involved because everyone, including teachers/professors, think they’re behind everything.

Sherlock and John are responsible for these two meeting. And, because they both want to help with the investigation, they get to watch them become friends and fall a little in love. And that makes them feel things about themselves that they’ve been working very hard to not feel, thank you.

Why read it: I know you’ve got things to do — I do too — but once you start reading this fic be prepared to look out your window some time later and see the sunrise. The horrible, judgmental sunrise that always informs you of your poor life choices.

Then be prepared to not give a fuck because you’ve just read an awesome fic probably didn’t want to write that paper anyway.

A Study in Winning Part 1 and Part 2

Author: Jupiter Ash

Rating: NC-17

Genre: AU/Romance

Word count: Over 100,000 (Clear your schedules, ladies and gents)

Summary: Porn, plot and tennis. Also swearing and some French. AU where Sherlock and John are professional tennis players. (no really)

Why read it: This is a life-consuming, time-killing monster of a fic, but it is completely and utterly worth it. There is humor, angst, porn, and action — just like you would expect from the show (you know, minus the porn, but a girl can dream).

Trust me. People will try to pull you away from your computer saying crazy things like, “Why don’t you socialize with us?” or “You haven’t left the room in nine days,” or “Your eyes are bleeding.”

But as they struggle to rip that laptop from your desperate, pale hands, imploring you to stop, you shall shout hysterically in return:

In The Land of The Blind.

Author: entangled-now

Rating: R

Genre: Character Study/Angst

Word count: 12,679

Summary: Sherlock’s been acting strangely for days. There’s a claustrophobic silence to the flat, experiments tossed aside or abandoned, cases ignored. It’s almost as if nothing matters any more. John’s determined to know why.

Why read it: It’s the end of the world as we know it. It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel - horrible actually.

Everything is ending, nothing matters, and goddamn it how are you supposed to just accept that? Anger? Or should we be better people and say goodbye to whatever family would care? Hedonism? Personally that seems like a good way to me. But what about human dignity in the face of sure destruction? It’s the end of the fucking world.

Apparently I scare people with my trippy why read. It was 4:00 in the morning people! Everything seemed philosophical at the time. I was waxing poetic to my stuffed zebra. Scarf was scared. Also, this fic is an emotional roller coaster like no other. Don’t let my ramblings turn you off. Give it a shot.
