Monday: Damn Good Fics

Two Two One Bravo Baker

Author: abundantlyqueer

Rating: NC-17

Genre: AU/Case!fic

Word count: 91,843 (WIP)

Summary: In which Sherlock and John meet ten months and three-and-a-half thousand miles earlier.

Why read it:

Is a “why read” section even necessary for this fic? You’ve all probably seen this fic squeed, sobbed, and flailed over on your dashes for quite some time now.

Is there anything that I, a lowly fangirl, can possibly say in order to pimp out this masterpiece anymore than the fandom has already succeeded in doing?

Notes: Yes, this is a WIP, and therefore against our policy. For our 221st post though, we thought it necessary to finally rec this magnum opus.

Sadly, it will be our last regular post for an indeterminate amount of time. As promised, the rec list from the A Study In Fic submissions will be posted…. eventually.

It might even happen this week. Maybe. But we here at Fuck Yeah Sherlock Fics, ever the classiest of bitches, are proud to be ending things with a bang.

Thursday: Character Appreciation (Harry Watson)

Harry Watson Investigates

Author: Orange_Crushed

Rating: G

Genre: Gen/Case!fic/AU

Word count: 6,087

Summary:

John keeps his hands in his pockets, except at streetcorners, where he still sometimes tries to get Harry to hang onto his sleeve as they cross. It’s embarrassing. She walks ahead of him a little bit, to discourage that kind of thing.

Why read it: Eleven-year-old Harry Watson is a BAMF. She will kick your ankles until she gets whatever it is she wants, and let me tell you, that shit hurts. She can also tell you all about just how fucking awesome bunnies are. And let’s face it, they’re the most bad ass mothers out there.

^ Case in fucking point.

And she snoops well enough to make any Holmes proud. All while wearing her favorite fuzzy yellow jumper that makes her feel like she’s wearing the goddamn sun.

I guess jumper-love runs in the family

Notes: This story is actually the sequel of another great story, The Dangerous Book for Boys. The sequel can be read alone, but I would definitely recommend reading both.

Sunday: Requests

Everything You Won’t Tell Me

Author: E^(pi*i)

Rating: NC-17

Genre: Romance/AU

Word count: 15,100

Summary: It’s never felt like this before, like wanting to say, “I’d rather not, but if you wanted, I’d get on my knees for you.” Because John is a dom, and Sherlock is a dom, and John wants him anyways. Except, one of these things is not quite true.

Why read it: This was an interesting verse to read. In an AU in which everyone is either submissive or Dominant, Sherlock has difficulties forming relationships with anyone. Most people assume he’s a Dom, and he’s constantly being hit on by either subs or switches.

Unfortunately, forming a relationship with a Dom has always involved putting his personal life before his cases, which is something that Sherlock is just not willing to do.

Notes: This fic has two prequels, You Need Someone (But It Wont Be Me) and It’s Easy To Trust Someone Who Can’t Break You. Both of these are Lestrade/Sherlock, although the second deals more with Sherlock and John’s progressing relationship. I would really encourage everyone to read these before reading the final fic.

This verse was found for the request: “haven’t read any good BDSM fic lately. Dear Jumper & Scarf, please will you fix it for me to give me some good porn to read” There’s not much porn, dear, but I hope it helps.

Saturday: Kink

How To Tame Your Dragon

Author: mad-maudlin

Rating: NC-17

Genre: AU/Fantasy

Word count: 12,871

Summary: Sorcerer!Sherlock sets out to trap himself a pet dragon. Said dragon turns out to be far more interesting than he initially anticipated.

Why read it: Cause John Watson is a motherfucking dragon!!! As far as I’m concerned, that’s head canon. Come on, it makes sense. We always knew he was part reptile anyway.

I just love the way this author portrays John as completely not human, but still the John we know and love. Except carnivorous.

Notes: This fic has a lot of warnings attached to it, so be sure to read them all. Personally though, I didn’t find it as dark as the the warnings indicate it would be. It was actually humorous at times. Let me stress however, that that’s my PERSONAL opinion.

Friday: Fanart and a Fic
Artist: Zenyr
Fic/Author: A Study in Blue by writingispurdy
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Case!fic/AU
Word count: 22,184
Summary: On 1st January, 1920, John Watson meets Sherlock Holmes.
There is a crater in the middle of Europe, and John Watson had been pulled out of it alive.
Why read it: JAZZ AGE AU!!!

I can not tell you how much I love the idea of Sherlock in the 20’s. The author does an amazing job keeping the fic remarkably similar to the show, while still managing to avoid any anachronisms that might be tempted to sneak in. Oh, and her depiction of Sherlock playing the violin?

I could read that for-fucking-ever.

Tuesday: Angst

Gone Is My Past

Author: cyerus

Rating: PG-13

Genre: AU/Magical Realism/Angst

Word count: 7,923

Summary: John is an army bomb detection dog who has been turned into a human.

Why read it: This fic succeeds in evoking an interesting combination of emotions. On one hand, there is the joy you feel when John uses his doggy senses to be a BAMF.

On the other hand, be prepared to board the angst train when you realize how much suffering John’s transformation causes him.

There’s also a good dose of helpful, caring Mycroft for anyone who has a soft spot for everyone’s favorite minor government official.
