Attention Sherlockians of the BBC variety:

Like the icon that we have all grown to worship, we are a fandom that notices the details. All fangirls are trained to pick up on little things, but we Sherlockians have truly mastered the art.

Now it’s time to put these skills to the test. Remember all those fics you read while you should have been doing work? Of course not. That was a lot of fic. Unfortunately for you, we’re asking you to do just that.

A Study in Fic is a scavenger hunt. We will give you sets of clues, and you will have a limited amount of time to find fics or pieces of fanart in which these clues appear. There will be twenty clues in four rounds. A certain number of people will make it through each round, depending on how quickly they submit their answers.

Example:

• Clue: Mycroft is married
• One of many possible answer: That Thing You Like (In which Mycroft has a wife) 

Rules and Regulations (IMPORTANT)

1. The rounds will be posted separately, and reblogged periodically. 
2. Each of the four rounds will last 48 hours. The first half of the participants who make it through the first round will move on to the second!
3. To send in your answers, just submit all five links in one submission post. Please do not send in answers as you find them. You will only be counted when all five answers are in.
4. The fics or fanart you find do NOT have to be fics we have recced. In fact, several of the clues cannot be found among our previous recs. In addition, the fics/art you find do NOT have to be any good. They just have to exist.
5. For those of you who participated in our trick-or-treat and won hints, you have one free answer to be used at your discretion. Just write “trick-or-treat” where one of the links would have gone. These hints can be used throughout the entire contest, so be sure to save it for when you really need it.
6. If you didn’t get a chance to participate on Halloween, just reblog this post (with rules attached) and you’ll get a free answer too! If you’re among our trick-or-treaters, this is your chance to get a second free answer.
7. When the final winner is determined, we will contact them and request a mailing address. All postage will be on us.
